Not Going That Way

Title: Not Going That Way
Author: [info]bohemianspirit
Genre: Het, Humor, AU and/or Crack, Drabble
Characters: Severus/Charity and a few Special Surprise Cameo Appearances
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Challenge: [info]snape100 #282: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Notes: I'm not sure if this is the same summer holiday as "High Flying Lover" and "Letting Off Steam." It appears that Severus and Charity temporarily slipped through a warp in the space-time continuum. Inspired by this comment exchange in [info]alisanne's story "Temptation." What a long, strange trip it's been...

Sev's Twin

"Oh, hey, whaddaya know." A man passing on Nicollet Mall stopped and grinned at Severus. "Twins."

His face. His voice.

That accent.

That horrible, horrible accent.

"Only if you were born ninth of January, nineteen-sixty, and adopted out of Manchester, England," snapped Severus.

"Hey! Whaddaya know? We are twins!"

He hadn't survived Nagini's bite, after all. He had died, and gone to hell, and this was his eternal torment, in penalty for the never-to-be-expiated sins of his youth.

"Welcome to the Twin Cities, twin brother!"

Severus blinked. "I'm not dead. Am I?" he added hopefully.

His twin frowned. "No."

Damn.

The Two Professors: Take Two

Seems I just can't leave the good Professors alone. Another crack at crossover crack in the land of Gilligan's Isle, featuring the One True Pairing of Severus Snape (HP Professor) and Roy Hinkley (GI Professor).

Ask Someone Who Cares

Title: Ask Someone Who Cares
Author: [info]bohemianspirit
Genre: Gen, Post-war AU, Coming-of-Age, Humor
Characters: Severus, Draco
Rating: PG-13
Originally posted: 12-30-08

Summary: Severus helps Draco build a new life for himself after the war, and in the process finds his own way towards healing.

Notes: Written for Dollar-chan, for the [info]snapedom Summer Fest 2008. This story was inspired by these pictures of Severus and Draco: On the Run (gen), Childhood (gen), and Study Session (slash, work safe).

Writing Draco sympathetically was a challenge for me. Unlike Severus in this story, I've never been particularly fond of Draco. However, I do think that in the last couple of books he showed (along with his more negative traits) signs of change for the better, glimpses of a potential, eventual maturing in perspective and behavior, so I built on that side of him in developing this story.

I took the idea of Severus fleeing Hogwarts with Draco at the end of HBP, combined with the idea that Severus had been a friend of the Malfoy family since Draco was a child, and came up with Draco accompanying Severus on a post-DH exodus from Britain's wizarding world. The relationship of Severus to Draco in this story is that of a mentor or father figure, but the Severus/Draco picture gave me the idea to write them as gay men; not, however, in relationship to each other.

Gen story about gay characters. Nothing explicit. DH Epilogue cheerfully ignored, of course. ;-) Severus lives!

Washed Away

Genre: Gen, Drabble
Character: Severus Snape
Rating: PG-13
Challenge: [info]snape100 #277 - His First Time
Originally posted: 4-13-09

Notes: AU fate of Severus Snape. Of course. ;-)

He remembered, always, the first time he had realized that Lily was dead.

As in, truly, madly, deeply realized.

She wasn't coming back. To him. To life. Ever.

And Severus had decided that he wanted more in his life than a memory.

He had celebrated his illumination by heading out to a Muggle bar and getting laid.

With every act of making love, always to a Muggle, he erased another layer of damnation for having ever uttered the unpardonable word.

And now, baptized in the tears of Fawkes, Severus was finally set free.

He went forth, and sinned no more.

You Could Use a Good Caretaker

Title: You Could Use a Good Caretaker
Author: [info]bohemianspirit
Genre: Humor, AU, Slash (unrequited), Crackfic
Characters: Severus Snape, Dwayne Schneider
Crossover: Harry Potter/One Day at a Time
Rating: PG

Summary: Dwayne Schneider thinks Severus Snape is in need of a good caretaker.

Notes: Bit of a time warp going on here, bringing late 1970s Schneider into the late 1990s to meet AU postwar Snape. I haven't seen the show in at least twenty years, so my characterization of Schneider might be a bit off, but if you're reading a story like this in search of literary quality, you're even more far gone than I am.

The Professor and The Professor

Ten drabbles featuring The Professor and Professor Snape!

I wrote these for Writercon100 on LJ, inspired by the fact that Gilligan's Island was on their list of small fandoms to write for. Of course I had to make them crossover fics, because, well, what's fanfic without Severus Snape? ;-) I had fun writing these; have fun reading them!

So Dark the Con of Man

Character: Severus Snape

Summary: Severus lives.

He had thought the infernal trio would never leave.

Slowly, slowly, he allowed his eyelids to relax. Tears welled, relieving the arid burn of seemingly endless minutes of wide-eyed Occlumency. The vial of phoenix tears would soon complete what the Blood Replenisher and Antivenin had begun. The memories, relinquished, would not be missed. It was time to let them go.

He had known it might come, someday, to faking his own death. He had not expected an audience.

Slowly, slowly, Severus Snape rose. He bowed, exited, and drew the final curtain on a dark and miserable chapter of his life.

Childhood's End

Realistically, all romantic fantasy aside, I think Severus and Lily had a circumstantial, superficially-founded childhood friendship that both of them would have outgrown, even if Severus had never become a Death Eater. Based on what we see in the texts, it appears that Lily had started to pull away from Severus once they got to Hogwarts and she discovered other friends who could also do magic. Lily and Severus really don't seem to have been all that comparable, or compatible, in terms of intellectual capacity and personality, and Severus seems to have read far more into the friendship than Lily ever did.

I think the forces of survivor guilt and idealizing the memory of the dead had more to do with Severus' devotion in later years than a True Love based upon a solid and genuine soulmate-level friendship. A good counselor would have pointed this out to him within the first few years of Lily's death, but, alas, poor Severus had no good counselors available to him, only Albus Dumbledore.

So here's how I think it would have played out, had Severus given up his Death Eater associations and had he ended up marrying Lily. And now that I think about it, it kind of says a few things about his devotion to her in canon, too... ;-)

Title: Childhood's End
Author: [info]bohemianspirit
Genre: AU, Het
Pairing: Severus/Lily

Summary: Severus had known for a long time that he and Lily were growing apart, but an early morning conversation about their marriage still leaves him in shock.

Notes: Originally written as a bit of Creative Meta for the Underground at [info]snapedom. ;-) Story title shamelessly lifted from Arthur C. Clarke, because it fits.
